As we are getting close to the school winter break, we have decided to list the Keystone’s favourite activities at no cost for you, your family and friends. The school’s winter break lasts for two weeks from December 17th to January 3rd. The good news is that the winter holidays are a very festive season in Toronto and offer a variety of events that are often free of charge. Get ready to fill your agenda!
1. Ice Skating
Of course, we’re going to start with ice skating, a classic winter activity. In Toronto you will find several skating rinks to practice, however, we picked the Harbourfront Center, where you’ll find Toronto’s best DJs playing free music on Saturday nights at Harbourfront Natrel Rink, which is, by the way, a great New Year’s Eve plan.
Address: The Natrel Rink, Toronto, ON M5J 2G8 416-973-4000
Hours: Due to COVID-19, please check with the attraction for the most recent updates to their opening hours.

2. Cavalcade of Light
Taking place at Nathan Philips Square, this event has no cost and represents the start of the holiday season in Toronto, where there will be the first 60-foot (18-metre) Christmas tree, musical performances, food and of course ice skating. The environment around the city hall will be transformed into a magical experience of Christmas every night from 5 pm to 11 pm.
Date & Time: November 27 to January 2, 2022 | 5 to 11 PM
3. Academy Chamber Orchestra
4. Bloor-Yorkville Holiday Magic
Do you know the international pop star Kiesza? Well, this year the Holiday Magic community celebration will feature a free live outdoor performance from Kiesza along with the annual lighting ceremony that takes place on Cumberland Street and the Village of Yorkville Park, hosted by etalk host Chloe Wilde. Light displays and decorations: November 27 to December 31
5. Taste of Iceland
This is a four-day festival about Iceland, offering a list of free events such as the annual Reykjavík Calling concert, film screening, literary exhibition on Iceland’s Christmas tradition and more DJ music and ice skating as well as a chance to win a trip to Iceland by participating to the spin icelandair’s Wheel of Prizes.
6. The Distillery Winter Village
The Distillery Winter Village is another classic event that takes place in the Distillery District during the Holidays Season in Toronto. You will enjoy the local shops, cafes, restaurants, crafts and the magical Christmas setting along with the beautiful historic buildings of Distillery District.
