Mark your calendars – the Winter Break begins on December 25th!
December 14th - Sunshine Therapy Dogs
This is an opportunity to play with the dogs, and relax and de-stress prior to the winter break. This is an optional event, and all students who are interested in meeting and playing with the dogs are encouraged to stay after school to do so.
(Thank you to Ms. Giorgia for arranging this for us!)
Ms. Giorgia (our Student Counsellor – learn more here!) will also be providing us with weekly blog posts, beginning today, about pertinent and relevant questions regarding mental illness and mental health. The link to her first post is below – and be sure to follow our Instagram page to be the first to know when these posts go live!
Keystone’s 2023 Diaper Drive
Keystone’s Events Committee decided to host a fundraiser last month to collect items for mothers and children in need in the local area.
We worked as a school on collecting diapers, formula and wipes for our local charity, and we are so pleased to say that the fundraiser was a great success!
It is an exciting and wonderful feeling to give back to our community during the holiday season!
Middle School Trip to Little Canada
This field trip in late November served as a great opportunity for our middle schoolers to practice understanding mathematical concepts such as scale in a real-world environment.
Plus, they had a lot of fun while learning, and that is always one of our primary aims at Keystone!
Grade 11 Functions Trip to the ROM
Our grade 11 math class visited the Royal Ontario Museum on Friday December 1st, to engage in some experiential learning outside the classroom.
The class embarked on this field trip to the museum to explore the age of dinosaurs through the fascinating realm of carbon dating.
Students started getting into the holiday spirit during the second last week of November, setting up decorations around the school. Things are certainly starting to feel very festive around here!
Letter Writing Day – December 7th
In this age of social media and digital communication, handwriting is becoming an archaic practice, a thing of the past. But is there any better feeling than getting something a little special in the mail, addressed directly to you? Knowing that someone put in that bit of extra thought to write something down and send it to you can be very touching and exciting. So, why not challenge yourself this month to write an actual letter? Maybe send it to a family member back home, or even put it in your best friend’s locker. It will make that person feel extra special…and who knows, maybe you’ll receive a reply back too?!
Human Rights Day – December 10th
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an important and fundamental document that describes the inalienable rights that all humans are entitled to, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, language, national identity, etc. To learn more about this profound document and its anniversary, you can visit the link below.
