How It Works – Curriculum, Credits & Timeline

The online courses are designed to provide a comprehensive and interactive learning experience:

  • Asynchronous: instructors can determine the due dates that work with their students’ schedules
  • 110 hours of learning material
  • 3-5 units, including a variety of assignments aimed at reinforcing the concepts covered
Students’ grades are primarily determined by coursework, which makes up 70% of the overall grade. This includes unit assignments, interactive activities, and participation in course discussions, providing a continuous assessment of students’ progress and understanding. The final project or test, which accounts for the remaining 30% of the grade, evaluates students’ comprehensive understanding and application of the entire course content. This balanced assessment approach ensures a thorough evaluation of both ongoing engagement and overall mastery.

The course materials are highly interactive, featuring a wealth of additional resources designed to support and enhance the learning process. These resources include multimedia content, supplementary readings, and interactive tools that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that students have ample opportunities to grasp and apply the knowledge gained.

FAQs – All about the Homeschool Program

Yes. Keystone’s homeschool program is open to students worldwide. As long as they have access to a stable internet connection, international students can complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) entirely online. No Canadian residency or study permit is required for enrollment.

Absolutely. Keystone is an inspected private high school authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education (BSID #888468). Students who complete the OSSD through our homeschool program receive the same diploma as students attending traditional schools in Ontario. The OSSD is widely recognized by universities in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and beyond

It depends on the student’s pace and prior credits. Students typically need 30 credits to graduate. Those starting in Grade 9 usually complete the program over four years, while older students may accelerate based on previously earned credits or by taking additional courses per term. Our program is flexible, allowing students to create a timeline that suits their academic goals.
