Our visit from Sunshine Therapy Dogs on Thursday December 14th was a joy as we welcomed Moose to the school!

Our students and teachers had a great time interacting with the dog and learning more about the type of training that therapy dogs receive.

Keystone’s Holiday Potluck

We celebrated the start of the holiday season and the winter break with a holiday potluck lunch!

In past years, this event has been a great success amongst our teachers and students, and this year proved no different. We all mingled together, enjoyed the delicious food, and listened to festive music and played festive games.

Keystone Students Give Back

Sick Kids Hospital Toronto

We are very proud of our students who volunteered for Sick Kids Toronto in December!

They engaged in fundraising at the local Canadian Tire and collected over $1,000 for the hospital. This amount was also matched by Canadian Tire, resulting in an over $2,000 donation thanks to the efforts of our students.

Keystone Students Give Back

December Diaper Drive

Do you remember our Diaper Drive from back in our December Newsletter?

Well, it was such a resounding success that some our students took a trip down to St. Michael’s Hospital to deliver our donations to The Baby Tuck Shop. We were so pleased to hear that they would likely be given to local refugee parents in desperate need over the holiday season.

Volunteer Opportunity with Ms. Sanya

This is a volunteer opportunity for the high school students, for you to pass on your valuable knowledge and skills to the middle schoolers.

We would like it if you could teach the basics, and even some advanced features, of Canva to the middle school students to enhance their knowledge of the program.

The date and time of the tutorials will be decided at a later time. If you wish to volunteer, we request you to sign up on the sheet displayed on the bulletin board. Volunteer requests will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

National Hobby Month

January marks National Hobby Month and is a great time to take up a new pastime and try to implement it into your 2024 routine.

Toronto is full of fun winter activities that you can give a try, such as skiing or snowboarding at Blue Mountain.

You can also think about registering for a Toronto Public Library card and reading up on a topic that you are especially interested in during your spare time.

Finally, you might give some of Ms. Giorgia’s suggestions from her blog post on self-care a try.

Whatever you choose to do, make 2024 the year you try something new and maybe find your as yet unlocked passion!

International Day of Education

January 24th is the International Day of Education.

This date was selected by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the role of education in world peace and development.

According to the UN, “Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility.”

You can learn more about this important day of recognition here.

Recipe Corner

Each month in our newsletter, we will be sharing a special recipe from one of our staff members. These will serve as a chance for you to try a food you’ve never eaten before or rediscover a new take on a delicious favourite!

This month we have a surprisingly easy but nevertheless absolutely scrumptious, wintery dessert…

A Note about StudyInsured

Have you been needing/wanting to see a doctor but aren’t sure which clinic will be covered easily under your StudyInsured policy with Keystone?

You can use this website to search for specific clinics that will bill directly to StudyInsured, so there will be no hassle for you.

*Please note that you can go to any clinic with your Keystone StudyInsured insurance, but in some cases, the clinic may not be able to bill directly to StudyInsured. In those cases, you will need to pay out-of-pocket for the appointment and will be reimbursed by StudyInsured at a later time. To avoid any such delays, use the link above to find a conveniently located clinic that can do direct billing!

If you have any questions or cannot locate the email with your specific policy number, please speak to Mrs. Janille!

We at Keystone hope you are having a wonderful start to 2024 so far!
