Keystone International in Toronto offers a unique location and facility for students from grades nine to twelve. Situated in the heart of historic Toronto it is in close proximity to parks, the financial district, government offices, and centres of culture. This provides students the opportunity to practice project-based learning at such places as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, Fort Henry, Blue Mountain, High Park and Queen’s Park among others. In this way concepts and theories are integrated into practice through experiential learning. The school itself has been designed to support learning in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Keystone International School implements the Ontario Ministry of Education's Growing Success: Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting in Ontario Schools (2010). The two prongs of the policy; development of learning skills and work habits, are integrated into the teaching, evaluating and reporting procedures. Responsibility, organization, independent work, collaboration, initiative, and self-regulation are fostered; learning expectations include knowledge and understanding, critical and creative thinking, communication and application. These expectations are met through a variety of teaching strategies that engage different styles of learning. Our teaching staff is selected for their subject expertise, proven ability for excellence in teaching and concern for your well-being from the time you enroll at Keystone until graduation. Toward this end, teachers develop engaging lesson plans that help you to improve and achieve course outcomes. At least one “rich” assessment is required each day per course that satisfies requirements for “assessment for learning” and “assessment as learning.” At least eight assessments of learning are required in each course every semester. By enrolling at Keystone you can be assured of individual attention in a transparent, fair and equitable environment with the flexibility to see your ideas for clubs and activities come to fruition with your friends.
I look forward to welcoming you!
